Set up is as easy as 1-2-3! 


  1. Check that your device is 4G fit.

  2. Set up a new Access Point Name (APN) "kotaa" and select "OK". 

  3. Restart your device and switch on "Mobile Data". You're ready to browse now! 


  • Data speeds will vary depending on your device.

  • Faster data speeds will improve the quality of content which means you will use more battery. Check out how you can boost your smartphones battery life

  • All Bluesky supplied SIMs are 4G capable

  • It is important that you choose the right Data Plan to avoid excessive data usage

  • Stay on top of your data usage with myBluesky app or use the *888# menu or text "datachk" to 888. 

  • Your device will switch between 4G and 3G as you move between coverage areas. This is indicated at the top of your screen. 

  • 4G is only available to Rarotonga and Aitutaki customers


  • The Bluesky network operates on two layers of technology: 

    • 3G- 900MHz

    • 4G/LTE- 700MHz & 1800MHz

  • You can force 4G when in coverage by doing one or more of the following:

    • Ending all data sessions

    • Putting your device in flight mode for 90 seconds or so 

    • Power your mobile off and on
