Outage Thursday 1st December
Yesterday afternoon, Thursday 01December between 1:00pm and 1:30pm there was an unfortunate network outage to Bluesky services that impacted all IP based services, including Internet, Mobile Data, some Fixed Line services and Moana TV. The outage lasted 30mins.
The cause had been identified as a Software issue on our CISCO Core Switch Cluster, which restricted the full use of the memory capacity of the cluster and resulted in the service outage yesterday afternoon. This issue was detected by the Engineering team earlier in the week and there was a planned shutdown of the Core to apply a new version of software to correct the issue. However with the level of traffic offered to the Core during the afternoon, the cluster was unable to cope and the outage resulted.
Bluesky’s Engineering team will continue with the planned action to upgrade the software and in the meantime will be constantly monitoring the Core to ensure it remains stable to minimise interruptions to our customers.
