Telecom Cook Islands has completed the final testing of the O3b Satellite Service for Telecom's High Speed Internet which provided all customers with an opportunity to try the new experience for a period of 4 days finishing on Sunday midnight.
Damien Beddoes Sales & Marketing Manager for Telecom Cook Islands said “Reports from customers have been fantastic, the ability to browse and stream videos, links online, improved Skype video calling, cloud services, internet banking, etc has had customers raving about the new experience”.
One customer, Bob Taylor, the General Manager of Edgewater Resort and Spa explained “It’s just fantastic, it’s the same as what I get in Australia”.
“We would like to thank all our customers that actively participated in the trial and spoke on Cook Islands News about their experience as well as our customers who provided written and verbal feedback. This reinforces to us that our High Speed Internet service powered by O3b was and is the right choice for the Cook Islands” said Jules Maher Telecom Cook Islands CEO, he then continued “We look forward to bringing it back on a permanent basis early in the New Year”.
During the test phase Telecom Cook Islands conducted comparisons with its telecommunications counterparts in New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, and the USA to measure the difference between the O3b service and the undersea cable internet service. “The results speak for themselves, we’re able to match the speed of internet delivered by undersea cable” stated Rob McFadzien Telecoms Chief Technical Officer.
